Kalachand Chakraborty

Kalachand Chakraborty was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was born in 1909 at Solok, Barisal, now in Bangladesh. He was son of Haricharan Chakraborty. He belonged to Anusheelan Samity, and was rrested in connection with Interprovincial Conspiracy case in 1933. Subsequently sent up for trial in Faridpur bomb case. He was sentenced to 10 years prison term, and deported to Andamans. He participated in the second hunger strike in Cellular Jail-Andamans in July 1937 for 37 days. After release, he was arrested in 1940 from the greater Calcutta industrial belt. However, he escaped from police custody while they were escorting him to Barisal, and remained underground till 1949.
